708 people gathered for this National Day of Action
Dear Human Banner-SF Community,
My deepest thanks to everyone who turned out for Saturday's "Don't Look Away" banner, which was Human Banner #39!
This will be a short and sweet wrap-up to a great event. We thank you for your patience with receiving the post-event update videos and photos. Our smaller-than-usual team for this event is weary and playing a little catch-up.

Can someone who has not been to a human banner “get” how much fun they are?
I’ve come to think that the crowd's explosions of joy that the whole team and I see (and experience for ourselves) during and at the end of almost every banner is what has kept me going for all these years.
Twenty years ago, I wanted only to create imagery so audacious that the "legacy media" in the year 2007 could not resist it. And it worked. Nationwide on ABC-News by mid-afternoon, worldwide on CNN by evening, ripples that have lasted for two decades now. All of which is its own enormous buzz!
But the on-the-sand, on-the-seawall, along-the-water’s-edge euphoria that erupted on Day One and has returned at every human banner event since then, is to me an almost peripheral, almost unexpected byproduct.
Honestly, on Game Day, we almost never even think of our message — we are too busy building it, which is its own brand of fun!
But I’m not exaggerating when I say that by now several thousand attendees have told me that their favorite thing about our events is coming together in a picturesque and peaceful venue to make transcendent art with like-minded people. The medium really is the message.

If you’ve come to an event — Thank You! — you probably already know.
If you have not yet made it out to one, Thank You for enjoying the art that has emerged.
Please enjoy these videos from Saturday’s DON’T LOOK AWAY banner!
So Very Warmly,
Brad Newsham for the whole team at HumanBanner-SF.com
PS — The second-most-asked post-banner question: When’s the next one?
We reserve the right to change our minds as circumstances dictate. But right now, it is the Human Banner-SF Team’s intention (and my own) to not do another banner until Indivisible and 50501 and others call for a No Kings Day #4. We have zero inside info, but we’re guessing that will probably be sometime in late September or early October. Stay tuned!
